Summer is here and that means it’s time to take advantage of everything Sacramento has to offer doing the summer months. Here are a few things you can do to get out into the community and experience some summer fun in Sacramento.
Every Friday night until the end of July be sure to make your way down to Cesar Chavez Park and catch a free concert. You’ll see some great up and coming DJs, certified headliners and a wide variety of other genres. Concerts start at 5pm so get there early to reserve your spot.
On 20th Street right in front of the MARRS building you’ll find an awesome summer block party. This is Midtown takes place every second Saturday of the month until September. Some entertainment includes DJ sets, live comedy, skateboard exhibitions and more! The party starts at 4:30pm
Who hasn’t wanted to take a bike ride through a miniature version of Sacramento including landmarks such as the State Capital? On family bike night, you can take your kids to Safetyville USA where they can learn to ride bikes safely without the danger of getting in an accident with a moving vehicle. Feel free to bring your picnic gear and set up on the lawn as well!
On July 9th check out the with annual Bastille Day. Here you can take part in a French themed party. Listen to the French national anthem in front of a miniature Eiffel Tower, or watch the Waiter’s race where waiters must speed walk while carrying trays of sparkling water. That’s a sight to be seen!
The Sacramento History Museum features underground tours where you can learn how Sacramento lifted itself out of the flood during the 1860’s. A great way for kids to learn about an interesting piece of Sacramento’s history!
Ready to cool off in the hot summer? Head over to Folsom lake and get out on the water! With about 11,500 acres of water and located just 25 miles north of the city, this is a quick trip to some relaxing family fun.
Baseball season is here and the River Cats have been a Sacramento stand by since they were founded all the way back in 1903. Raley Field is a great place to grab some popcorn and crackerjacks and root for the Triple-A home team. Say hi to Dinger while you’re there!
